28-05-18

Luxembourg, 28 May 2018 — M7 Group, one of Europe’s leading Pay-TV providers, has reached an agreement to integrate the innovative M7 smart TV app into Samsung Smart TVs built from 2016 onwards. The M7 smart TV app will be marketed under the local brand names of all M7 Group markets. The roll-out kicks off in Germany, where M7 recently launched Diveo as a new TV consumer brand, which is available to download with immediate effect. In Germany, Diveo is targeting roughly 18 million satellite TV households, enriching the linear TV offering with a wide range of interactive and multiscreen features.

The M7 smart TV app functions as a revolutionary, virtual hybrid set-top box. It enables users of Samsung Smart TVs to gain seamless, high-performance access to linear and non-linear TV content in brilliant HD quality through a central user interface. Furthermore, it offers numerous interactive features (e.g. live restart, access to media libraries) and digital services (e.g. cloud recording, electronic program guide). In addition to accessing entertainment and digital services on a Samsung Smart TV, M7 also provides its users access to these services via an app on mobile devices, enabling a seamless viewing experience when switching between the various screens.

In Germany, satellite TV households will have the chance to test the innovative Diveo smart TV app for 30 days free of charge and without commitment.

M7 Group is one of the largest TV platform operators in Europe, offering fully hybrid TV products, combining the benefits of linear satellite DTH distribution with IP-based interactive services, to more than 3 million pay TV customers in six European countries. With regard to the sales volumes of TVs, Samsung ranks as the clear TV market leader in Europe for the last 12 years bringing exciting new products and services every year.

Richard Jakeman, Head of Business Development Smart TV, Samsung Electronics Europe comments: “Together with M7 Group, we are thrilled to provide our consumers an exceptional TV content proposition. By incorporating M7’s linear and interactive content offering into our platform, we are further enriching Samsung Smart TV users with exciting and innovative ways to discover and enjoy their favourite content.”
